When it comes to shopping, every good deed should come with a discount. That's what customers enjoyed at Elaine Turner's boutique in Rice Village recently at the handbag designer's holiday soiree. Shoppers nibbled on appetizers, then sipped on champagne all while donating gently used handbags and shoes for The Women's Home, an organization that helps women get back on their feet. In return, Elaine Turner shared holiday cheer with discounts and coupons. The event also featured native Texan jewelry designer Elizabeth Herff with Hazel Smyth. Fifteen percent of proceeds from the evening went to The Women's Home. The 12 Days of Christmas didn't end at the holiday event. Elaine Turner is still accepting donations of gently used handbags and shoes to benefit The Women's Home until Wednesday.
